Radiology

Victoria McEwen

Following a career as a public school teacher for hearing impaired children in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. McEwen returned to school and attained her DVM from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a 1 year radiology internship which was created for her at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, Texas. Following a 3 year radiology residency at Auburn University, Dr. McEwen immediately passed boards and became a diplomate of the ACVR.

She has lectured on many subjects from CT to special diagnostic imaging procedures, has a mobile ultrasound practice, and is the owner/founder of Lighthouse Radiology.

Dr. McEwen lives with her husband and three “four-legged” kids in Florida. Her special interests include abdominal ultrasound and MRI.

Dr. McEwen works in conjunction with our mobile ultrasound service and reads radiographs and provides formal interpretation of ultrasound studies.

Robert Cole

Dr. Robert Cole is a graduate of Auburn University. After graduation, he was an associate at a mixed animal practice. After almost five years of general practice, he entered a residency in radiology at the University of Tennessee. After completion of the residency, he joined the faculty at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine where he was head of Large Animal Diagnostic Imaging. Dr. Cole then took a position as imaging director for an outpatient imaging center in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. He is currently on faculty at Auburn University where he hopes to finish his career.


Cardiology

Jean Betkowski

Dr. Betkowski is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania for both undergraduate study and VMD, completed in 1991. She then interned at The Animal Medical Center in New York and was in private practice in Connecticut for the following 2 years. She completed a residency in cardiology at Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine and became board-certified in cardiology in 1998. After that time, she continued at Tufts Veterinary School as a staff veterinarian in the Emergency and Critical Care Department as well as the Cardiology Service. She has worked as a telemedicine consultant for over 10 years and now also is a staff veterinarian at a local referral and emergency practice near her home.

Dr. Betkowski works in conjunction with our mobile ultrasound service. She provides detailed, individualized reports with treatment recommendations for cardiac patients.

Keith Blass

Dr. Blass graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and then completed a 1-year internship at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following this, he completed a three-year residency in Cardiology & Interventional Medicine at the Ohio State University. He practiced cardiology at a private referral hospital in Washington, D.C. before branching out into the field of telemedicine.

Dr. Blass has published in a number of leading veterinary journals and is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology. He lives in our nation’s capital. In his free time, Dr. Blass enjoys playing soccer, running, and playing guitar.

Dr. Blass works in conjunction with our mobile ultrasound service. He provides detailed, individualized reports with treatment recommendations for cardiac patients.


Internal Medicine

Julie Corbett

Julie Corbett

Dr Julie Corbett grew up in upstate New York and attended Cornell University where she received a BS in 1989. She graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Dr Corbett finished a small animal internship at Mississippi State University in 1997 and a small animal internal medicine residency at Cornell University in 1999. Since then she has been living in Florida. She currently resides in Gainesville, Florida and works full time at a referral-specialty hospital as the only internist at the practice. In her free time, she enjoys scuba diving (especially cave diving), landscaping and strength training.

Dr Corbett & her husband share their home with 3 dogs and 5 cats.
